My Early Bird

Last night I could not fall asleep. It was about 1:45am by the time I got to sleep.

What time does my wonderful younger daughter wake up? 5:30am!! With her stack of "Fly Guy" books reading to me in my bed. I'm so glad she enjoys reading and is doing so well, but 5:30 in the MORNING! Can we wait until 7am? Please.

BTW, she still doesn't think she can really read. Silly girl.

Ah, yes...I have an early birdie too (A). However, mommy is not one!! So we instituted the rule (which I cannot seriously believe how well she has stuck with this...although tootsie rolls are always a huge incentive for her) that when she wakes up to go potty (and hence thinks it is time to start her day) she is to go back in her room and read quietly or play until I come in to get her. It was rough going the first couple times, but she has got the hang of it now and we're all happier campers!! I am never past gentle forms of bribery if it doesn't hurt anyone! (It's amazing what you resort to when you are a single parent! LOL).

I've thought of this for O, however, the girls share a room and she then tends to wake up her sister instead. Who also is not a early bird. I don't understand what is happening. O was sleeping until 6:30am until a month or so ago and now its gone back to 5:30/6am! I thought we were done with this super early time. It's been almost 2 years. I'll have to see if I can get her to stay IN her bed until 7am. That would be better. Wish me luck. She's NOT my rule follower.
